SAME TIME SAME PLACE!

5pm Thursday, let's get it on.

Last week, we practised with the projector:

what you see here (above) is a view as you walk from the right hand lift, looking left - then back again. The image is only a circle when you stand in front of the lift. One of the tests we made. It gives you some idea of what needs to be done...

things have been happening!

here is the evidence:

We have nutted out some of the practicalities, and there is a plan emerging as to how to proceed.
After playing with the projector for a while, the conclusion was reached that simple geometric forms do indeed have the most impact.
Stay tuned for further details :)

LET'S MEET THURSDAY 5pm LEVEL 5

how does that sound?
Please bring along images and ideas - but I would strongly suggest people have another look at Varini's work, to get an idea of possibilities. I think that there may be more than just stylistic whimsy as to why he chooses very geometric forms for his 3d painting.
Try to keep it bold and simple :)
see you Thursday... - Guy B.

So - when is a good time to meet?

My preference is Tuesday afternoon, but I thought maybe Thursday could be an option as well.
Post comments here, with your own suggestions and image ideas!
You can also email me images to put up if there are issues posting :)

What is it all about?

There are no less than 7 locations on level5 where we can try to do this:

From the world of artist Felice Varini (see http://www.varini.org/05vid/vid01.html) his site is kind of loopy and hard to navigate, but you should get the idea.

For further inspiration Luca mentioned Shigeo Fukuda, look him up to be totally freaked out by his fork and spoon motorcyle and more :)

So let's get something happening!
Liam has secured a load of vinyl lettering and signage/billboard offcuts, which should provide us with some awesome material to work with.

I'm hoping people join in here, posting images that they think can be reworked to be used as iconic elements. My own thinking is maybe to use classic design icons, but that doesn't only mean chairs :) It could include tools, equipment, utensils, human elements as well. Of course chairs are kind of the design thing though.

Let's see what happens...

Here are some ideas so far.

Warhol! Particularly, this type of graphic style should work well...
I suppose it is pretty much the stencil thing, before stencils were Stencils.

Some design icons - Carl suggested A Wheel, let's see a sample image! Until then...

So... those are ID objects, are they? I also wondered about 50s scifi toys, but maybe that is just something I have to seek therapy for in my own time.

also very cool, are lego men...

and actual icon icons -
